The Green Party’s Campaigns Committee supports non-electoral campaigns on a range of urgent issues. We aim to raise awareness of how Green policies can make a positive difference and to give people ideas and materials to help them take action in their local communities. For environmentalists everywhere, members and non-members.

Green Votes Count
Campaigns you can use. Committee members have been super-busy in recent weeks helping with the Green Party’s national election campaign, one of us (the brilliant Ria Patel) as a parliamentary candidate.
It’s great to see how many of the issues we’ve worked on recently also feature in the Green Party manifesto...

Combat the biggest lie about the Greens
The biggest lie going around is that Green votes don't matter. They matter more than ever before. Greens believe in collaboration, intelligent policies and caring for the people and natural world around us. At a time when such beliefs are under threat.
Whether in a target seat, a marginal or a safe seat, we've got help for you to raise Green votes and tell the next government what voters really think is important.

Take action for a fairer deal for renters!
Everyone deserves to live in a warm, secure and affordable home. But for millions of people, this is now completely out of reach. Homelessness has been rising steeply, with at least 309,000 people homeless in England in December according to Shelter.
The Green Party has a joined-up plan to fix our broken housing market...

Chateau Sewage - The Perfect Gift for Your Local Tory
Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race crews told not to celebrate in the Thames for fear of infection. Our rivers and seas filled with sewage.
Could there be a better metaphor for the state of the country today? Make the point by giving a bottle of their favourite water to your local Tory. Ideally, with a photo for your local newspaper and TV station.

Zane's Law for Safe Homes
Seven year-old Zane Gbangbola died in the early hours of 8 February 2014, when the River Thames flooded at Chertsey in Surrey. The floodwater had brought hydrogen cyanide gas from a nearby contaminated landfill site into his home. Toxic waste that nobody had been told was there.
The Green Party has launched a campaign for a 'Zane’s Law', aimed at making toxic waste dumps safe, and Green-led Lewes District Council became the first council in England to vote for it.

Rwanda and Gaza - you can help
It's been a busy few weeks for Campaigns Committee, and we've been working on two urgent issues that we know many Greens feel very strongly about - the Rwanda Bill and the horrific violence being inflicted on the people of Gaza.
The Rwanda Bill threatens the human rights of all of us, not just those of refugees and asylum-seekers.
Many Greens have been taking part in protests against the appalling war crimes in Gaza, where more than 25,000 Palestinians have now been killed amid relentless attacks on civilians and civil infrastructure.

Making Millions from Climate Crisis
With the climate emergency accelerating and causing catastrophic impacts all around the world, advertisers still make millions from making it worse.
At the very least, such ads should carry a strong ‘health warning’. Whether on TV, in newspapers, on hoardings or anywhere. Just like tobacco ads before these were banned.
So, we have a new campaign flatpack for you: #DontSellClimateHell. It focuses on a (literally) burning issue, but we hope you’ll have some fun with it too!

Stop the Sewage / Protect and Restore Nature
The environment we need for a healthy life is under threat from industrialised agriculture, over-development, pollinator-killing pesticides, sewage pollution and – the biggest threat of all – irreversible climate breakdown.
Our campaign pack has ideas you can use to highlight the sewage scandal and take action to defend and restore nature in your local area. It includes a link to a 10-Point Plan for Nature that sets out the Green Party’s key policies on the natural world, and which you can use on local stalls.

NHS in Crisis - Take a Stand
All over the country, health professionals are raising the loudest possible alarm over the acute crisis in the NHS and social care services.
Many hospitals and ambulance trusts have declared critical incidents and the Royal College of Emergency Medicine has said that 300–500 people are dying each week because of delays in emergency care.
But right now it’s time to take a stand for a free, comprehensive and properly funded health and social care system that works fairly and effectively for all.

We Need Clean Air
Ways to support the Clean Air Human Rights Bill.
Many cities and towns in the UK have air pollution that’s well over safe WHO limits. But many local residents are not aware of this, or of how badly it’s affecting people’s health.
If you live in an area where air pollution is a serious problem, you may want to run a stall or organise a town hall meeting to focus on the issue and to raise awareness of Ella’s Law and why it matters.
We’ve put together a format you can use/adapt for this, plus materials you can use

Dirty Profits Tax
We’re facing the most extreme cost-of-living crisis in a generation, driven by the dramatic rise in fossil fuel prices. The poorest people are being hit hardest, with many now faced with the stark choice between heating and eating.
We need a Dirty Profits Tax and to use this to support the incomes of the poorest in society. The fossil fuel producers say this would deter investment in new North Sea oil and gas. They’re absolutely right – and that’s another reason we need such a tax.
The ‘Polluter Pays’ principle means that the biggest polluters should pay for the damage they’ve done. A Dirty Profits Tax embodies that principle – and it’s never been more urgently needed.
